The Bennett's
Spencer and Lisa Breedlove's love story began in 1993 when they met as students at the University of Georgia. Their connection blossomed quickly, leading to their marriage on August 27, 1994, while still pursuing their degrees. Both graduated from UGA in 1995, with Lisa earning a Business degree and Spencer completing his Education degree.
The Breedloves have built a beautiful family over the years, but their journey has not been without profound challenges and heartache. They are proud parents of three adult children: Tyler, Jared (who is married to Kendall), and Elisabeth. In February 2006, they expanded their family by adopting Elisabeth from China. However, their path to parenthood was marked by tragedy when they experienced the devastating loss of a child they were in the process of adopting, a painful experience that tested their faith and resilience.
Both Spencer and Lisa have faced significant career challenges throughout their lives. Their journey has been marked by periods of job loss, affecting both of them at different times. These experiences have forced the family to navigate financial uncertainty and professional reinvention, strengthening their resilience and adaptability.
Spencer has dedicated over three decades to vocational ministry, a path that has included both rewarding experiences and difficult trials. Additionally, painful church experiences have challenged their faith and commitment to ministry, requiring deep reflection and healing.
Currently, Spencer serves as the Executive Pastor at Gratis Church in Monroe, GA, and is the owner and life coach at Cord of Three Coaching. His commitment to education and personal growth is evident in his academic pursuits:
- Graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995 with an education degree
- Completed a Master of Christian Education from New Orleans Seminary in 2001
Spencer is a certified coach for several programs:
1. Prepare/Enrich: A customized couple assessment program designed to identify a couple's strengths and growth areas, providing a comprehensive view of their relationship dynamics.
2. SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts): An assessment tool that offers couples a personalized roadmap to achieve their ideal marriage, covering areas such as personalities, love life, communication styles, and financial methods.
3. Working Genius: An assessment that helps individuals identify their natural gifts and talents in the workplace. It breaks down work into six categories—Wonder, Invention, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, and Tenacity—allowing individuals to discover where they thrive best.
Lisa's career has also evolved significantly over the years. After graduating from UGA with a Business degree, she initially worked in the marketplace before transitioning to education in 2010:
- 14 years of experience as a 3rd-grade teacher
- Currently on faculty at Westminster Christian Academy in Watkinsville, GA for the past 7 years
Like Spencer, Lisa has also experienced job loss during her career journey. These challenges have contributed to their shared understanding of career instability and the importance of supporting each other through professional challenges.
